Individual Research Contributions to Group Project

  • Began individual idea pitching. Used ChatGPT to find out what are some technologies used in Singapore and what can be further improved on. Picked "Building the Future: Bio-Based Materials for Sustainable Construction."

  • Researched sustainable construction in Singapore, identified key challenges, and explored potential improvements. Assessed the desirability and feasibility of implementing bio-based materials.

Group decided on Bio-based construction materials as our project focus

Shifted focus to Excavators

  • Researched for excavator companies in Singapore.

  • Researched on the company Hitachi and what is their business regarding to excavator, their mission and vision and how it align with our project.

  • Researched the construction industry and the role of excavators on-site

  • Explored excavators' functions and features

  • Contributed on brainstorming the problem and purpose statement

  • Began drafting the project document. Wrote the introduction of the report, covering: The importance of excavators in modern construction

- Interviewed my previous internship supervisor to gain insights into the main concerns at construction sites, as well as possible improvements to enhance safety and efficiency. Discussed his views on fully autonomous excavators.

  • Continued work on the technology report by researching the limitations of adopting autonomous excavators, with a focus on:

High initial costs and market resistance from construction companies. Find sources that support this idea.

Explored other limitations, including complexity, data quality, and regulatory issues. Found supporting sources for these challenges through detailed searches using keywords such as:

"autonomous machinery complexity", “Impact of poor data on construction machinery”, and “Regulatory issues and market adoption”

  • Edit on report citation format and wording format.

During this period, I have actively engaged in communicating with group members and providing feedback. I have taken their suggestions into account and made necessary changes on my end, with the goal of achieving success together.
